The primary diagnostic procedure for determining the thermal performance of a building envelope is infrared thermography. It can be used to identify heating and cooling loss due to poor construction, missing or inadequate insulation and moisture intrusion. Correcting the defects plays a significant role in increasing building efficiency and structural integrity.

The inspector will inform you on the following:
- Age and condition of the homes major systems Normal life expectancy of the major components. Evaluate the quality of previous repairs and improvements. Maintenance suggestions.
- Rate the conditions of the systems -- acceptable/marginal/defective/safety concerns.
Your inspector will explain the condition of the various systems at the time of the inspection. He will also note this information on his check sheets or handheld computer. After the inspection is finished he will take this information to the office and proof read it for completeness. Your report is always completed that evening and will be forwarded to you by mail, email, fax or any combination of these.
